HEAD OF STUDIOS

Previously a staff executive producer working on US drama-documentary formats for October Films, Steve developed the October Studios concept to specifically support the creation of drama and visual content for factual productions. His background as an assistant director in film/ television drama and as a freelance producer has informed the direction of the business, now offering services to a wide range of factual and scripted productions. He enjoys leading a team who specialises in creative and innovative solutions to storytelling needs.

PRODUCTION EXECUTIVE

Tom has been in the industry for over 20 years, starting as a location manager working internationally on TV Dramas, Commercials and Feature Films. He then made the move into production when he joined October Studios. Tom has Line Produced many Drama Documentary Series over this period and is now Production Executive based full-time at our Norfolk Studios.

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Megan has pursued a career in television since graduating from the University of Surrey in 2014. She has worked across many different productions and genres in London and further afield, before returning to Norfolk after settling with October Studios. Since then she has become a vital member of the Production team, helping to maintain the studios and organise shoots as a Production Manager. Megan’s local contacts and organisational skills make her an important member of the October Studios family.

COSTUME AND MAKEUP SUPERVISOR

Dominic has spent 10 years merging the make-up and costume departments at Studios and has grown the costume store to what it is now, creating a one-stop-shop for any production’s needs. As head of department, he’s put together looks for a huge variety of roles, from singular First Ladies to identically dressed SWAT officers. A two-decade industry veteran, Dominic is now proud to call October Studios home.

LOCATION MANAGER

Following the failure of early careers as an impressionist and barista (the latter due to his inability to stop drinking the product) Simon found himself wandering the streets taking photos of random houses and taking a bizarre interest in the running of large commercial buildings. Hence when this job came up he was a natural choice. With excellent and widespread local contacts and a comprehensive location database, Simon is an invaluable asset to the planning of any project.

DIRECTOR / SHOWRUNNER

Jon is a versatile showrunner/exec producer and writer/director with credits in history, true crime, science, animation and drama. Jon has been leading our work in virtual production storytelling for factual television and is excited to use the technology to tell compelling and thought-provoking stories, some of which had been considered impossible to visualise without this technology.

LINE PRODUCER

After a decade assistant directing a stream of dramas, animations, soaps, commercials and films, Justin made the switch to production. He has since production managed and line produced a variety of dramas, documentaries and independent films before joining October Studios where he has spent over 4 years line producing drama and factual series and shows.

PRODUCTION DESIGNER

Originally working in the Art Department at the BBC and independent TV, Eileen has led creative teams in TV series, commercials, award winning short films, features and documentaries working at all scales and budgets. Innovation, adaptive working process and using new techniques and technology are key, along with a resourceful approach to set design and construction. 

ART DIRECTOR

With a background in technical effects, video and lighting, Stuart has worked extensively on productions creating props, scenic builds and projected images. He has developed an innovative approach within the Art Department to capture the best visuals in camera utilising everything from old video technology through to the latest in virtual production environments. Stuart heads up the Working Tech Props division at October and specialises in productions requiring Unreal and Video environments for the Virtual Production Stage.

PROP STORE MANAGER

Manages the props/furniture and Hire House for October Studios. Maintains and adapts the stock and is constantly purchasing and updating new pieces for the collection. I also work closely with art department teams to locate relevant items for the many productions filmed on-site. I enjoy restoring and reviving old pieces of general furniture/lamps / TVs etc which would have been discarded and sent to landfill, reducing the carbon footprint and creating a more eco-friendly business model.

ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT

Joanna has been working in accounting for over 8 years in various commercial companies before joining October Studios over 3 years ago. Joanna works directly with her team on all productions, providing them with accounts support, enabling both prep and shoot to run smoothly. In addition to this, she oversees management accounts for the October Studios business.

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Having started work in finance for the construction industry, a move from London to Norfolk saw Susan make the transition to finance within the media industry. In 2021 Susan joined October Studios where she works within the accounting team. Susan’s mantra has now become ‘do you have a vat receipt for that?’.
